The Trees and the Night The Seraphinium Book 3 eBook Daniel McHugh Lillian McHugh

Good continuation to the series.
Characters continue forward and add depth here and there. At this point, the plot is in full swing and there is a lot of action going on. The exiled giant prince, the captured elven sprite princess, the elevation of the new generation of leaders, and many other details coalesce to provide momentum to the series.
At this point, the main character is becoming likable and a bit less lost and whiney.
Series remains strong and well written. This book is, again, between 4 and 5 stars on my chart.

To some extent, this installment leaves me the vague impression of stalling, as even though there's still momentum and action, it's not clear what the point of most of it is in terms of telling the story.
The characters and overall plot are, in comparison to the other books in the series, only slightly affected by this particular book.

The Trees and the Night The Seraphinium Book 3 eBook Daniel McHugh Lillian McHugh Reviews

I have loved every installment of the Seraphinium series so far. I am re-reading everything again so that I can dive headfirst into the final book, The Mirror and the Maelstrom. Highly recommended stuff.
This was an entertaining and provacative novel. It held my interest well. I look forward to other books by this author.
This is another great installment in a highly enjoyable series. A lot of time is spent on military preparatiions and diplomacy, but the pace never seems to slow down. After reading the first two books, I felt like I knew the characters, but even though they sometimes act in frustrating or surprising ways in this book, they remain totally believable. The good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, but they're all flawed and all have their own agendas. This, combined with top notch fantasy, makes for a really fun and intersting read.
The third book in The Seraphinium exceeded all my expectations. McHugh skillfully spins several concurrent plot threads, expanding his world and enthralling the reader. However, it is the author's ability to weave those storylines together at just the right time that demonstrates his true mastery. Both the journey and the destination are satisfying, and we are left at the threshold of the conflict we have been waiting for all along. Now that all the pieces are in place, I fully expect McHugh to knock it out of the park with his conclusion. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book of this amazing series.
Books 1 through 3 of the Seraphinium series ended much too soon. The characters are interesting and consistent. The plot twists are legion. A writing style reminiscent of Chronicles of Narnia or Lord of the Rings.

As a former editor I was elated to find the books seem to be professionally edited with hardly any sentences I would question or change.

I've asked to be on Daniel McHugh's mailing list so I can keep reading.

The Trees and the Night (The Seraphinium)
The Pool and the Pedestal (The Seraphinium)
The Merchant and the Menace (The Seraphinium)
This third book of The Seraphinium is AMAZING! The troubles with the Zodrians and the Keltaran boil to a head and a great battle is waged. Daniel McHugh paints wonderful pictures of battle and landscape with his words and this book is exciting from beginning to end! Heroes arise and people die for a cause. Granu son of Grannak sublime as always! I had trouble putting this down on numerous occasions and I'm eagerly looking forward to reading book IV! On to The Mirror and the Maelstrom!
I'll admit to being worried when I heard that this installment of the series would focus more on the military campaign. I thought I might lose interest in a departure from the character driven aspect of the first two books but I was happily surprised. Unlike some fantasy stories where the military campaigns are just pages of action and violence, the author does an excellent job of combining the action that other stories have, but he also adds strategy, twists and turns, and manages to continue the character development of the first two books. I wonder how many more books are to come and hope for a least a couple more as I am enjoying this more than a lot of other series I have read lately. I hope that the characters maintain their likability and that the good guys win in the end. A fun ride and highly recommended.
